COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior Dijana Stojic from the South Carolina women’s tennis team earned SEC Player of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday.

South Carolina earned a pair of SEC wins last week, defeating Auburn and Alabama to get back to 2-2 in the conference. Alabama was ranked No. 33 in the country at the time of the two team’s meeting Sunday, while South Carolina stood 44th.

Versus Auburn, Stojic posted a win at No. 1 doubles with Dominika Kanakova and then snagged a victory at two singles in straight sets to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Gamecocks. Stojic and Kanakova then upset the No. 7-ranked doubles team in the country from Alabama in helping Carolina win the doubles point against the Crimson Tide. Her win over No. 69 Alexa Guarachi in three sets secured the Gamecocks’ 5-2 win.

Stojic is 8-3 this spring at the No. 2 singles spot and a perfect 3-0 in SEC matches. She and Kanakova have a 7-4 mark at one doubles and are 2-2 for SEC play. Stojic is currently ranked 103rd in singles and 34th in doubles.
