Greenville, SC – The South Carolina women’s golf team has moved into second place heading into Sunday’s final round at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina. The Lady Gamecocks fired the lowest score of any team on Saturday, a three-over par 291 for a two-day total of 593. The Lady Gamecocks trail Furman by just five strokes.
All of the Lady Gamecocks fired rounds in the 70’s on Saturday. Senior All-American Kristy McPherson moved up into a tie for fifth place after firing a two-under par 70 for a total of 146 (two-over par). Freshman Erica Battle (playing as an individual only) shot an even-par 72 and is also in a tie for fifth place.
Junior Kory Thompson fired a one-over par 73 on Saturday for a two day total of 148 and is tied for 11th place. Sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu shot a six-over par 78 for a total of 151 and is tied for 22nd place. Junior Marci Robinson is tied for 26th place after firing a two-over par 74 for a total of 152, while junior Adrienne Gautreaux also fired a 74 for a total of 154 and is tied for 35th place.
Furman leads the team field after firing a 293 on Saturday for a total score of 588. South Carolina is in second place followed by North Carolina, who shot a 300 for a total of 595. Tulane and TCU are tied for fourth place, each with a total team score of 600.
Leigh Turner of Furman leads the individual field after firing a four-under par 68 on Saturday for a total score of two-under par 142. Brooke Tull of TCU is in second place after firing a three-under par 69 (143), while Brandi Jackson of Furman and Jenny Gleason of North Carolina Greensboro are tied for third place each with a total score of 145. McPherson and Battle are tied for fifth place with three other players.
