COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s men’s golf team will play its final tournament of the fall season this week as it makes the short trip south to Kiawah Island for the Kiawah Intercollegiate. The tournament, hosted by Charleston Southern, runs Monday and Tuesday at Turtle Point Golf Club.

The Gamecocks will shake up their lineup this week but afford several players the chance to compete as two individuals will join the regular five starters for the two-day event. Carolina’s starting lineup will consist of junior Wesley Bryan (Chapin, S.C.), sophomore Dykes Harbin (Augusta, Ga.) and freshmen Blaine Woodruff (Acworth, Ga.) and Logan Harrell (Huntersville, N.C.). Sophomore Michael Raines (Acworth, Ga.) will make his initial varsity appearance for South Carolina as well, earning a spot in the starting lineup for the first time. Raines redshirted last season after transferring from Berry College and suffering an injury in the fall.

Freshman Caulder Moore (Isle of Palms, S.C.) and sophomore Dean Hester (Dublin, Ga.) will also compete in this week’s event, playing as individuals. Their scores will not count toward the Gamecocks’ team total.

Woodruff leads the Gamecocks through three events with a scoring average of 73.00 through three varsity events. The freshman has earned at least a share of the top individual finish by a Gamecock in all three tournaments thus far, including a runner-up showing at the Mason Rudolph Invitational in late September.

Carolina will look for a strong finish to the fall season this week, facing a tournament field that consists of Bethune-Cookman, Butler, Campbell, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, George Washington, Indiana, Longwood, Presbyterian, Stetson, Towson, Western Illinois and Western Kentucky.

The five Gamecock starters are paired with Charleston Southern and Indiana for Monday’s first round, which gets underway with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start as the teams will play 36 holes on Monday. The team will tee off on holes 1-3, with the two individuals in pairings that will start on No. 18. Live scoring for the tournament is available via golfstatresults.com.
