EVANSTON, Ill. — Miljana Jocic and Anya Morgina from the South Carolina women’s tennis team advanced to the finals of their respective singles flights at the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday in Evanston, Ill.

Jocic defeated Jill Pastunink of Western Michigan in the quarterfinals of flight C 7-5, 6-0 and then upended Jessica Young from Iowa 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(4). In flight D, Anya Morgina first beat Illinois-Chicago’s Mariya Kovaleva 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(6) and then Natalia Pintusova of Minnesota in the semifinals 6-4, 6-2.

Dijana Stojic reached the semifinals of flight D as well after defeating Lynn Poggensee-Wei from Iowa in the quarterfinals 6-1, 6-3 before losing to Katarina Milinkovic from DePaul 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Katerina Popova lost her first match to Milinkovic 6-4, 6-4 but rebounded with a 6-0, 6-1 victory to Poggensee-Wei in a consolation match.

In doubles, Morgina and Popova fell to Pastunink and Nivia of Western Michigan in the finals of flight B 8-5. Jocic and Stojic defeated Young and Dorr of Iowa 8-6 in the consolation draw of flight D.

Play in the Wildcat Invitational concludes Sunday with one round of singles.
