COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina (23-11, 4-5) returns to SEC competition as they travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for a three-game series against the Lady Volunteers, April 2-3. Senior Megan Matthews is just five career strikeouts away from 1,000. Should Matthews accomplish this feat, she would become only the 13th player in NCAA history to do so.

The Greer, S.C. native is just 37 strikeouts away from the Carolina all-time record of 1,032, which is currently held by former standout Trinity Johnson.

Start times for both days is 4 p.m. The games will also be televised on a tape-delay basis on College Sports Southeast.

Carolina leads the series against Tennessee 11-7. In their last meeting, USC hosted and swept the Lady Vols 3-0 (1-0, 4-0, 1-0). Tennessee enters the series 31-14-1 overall and 6-7 in the SEC. Tennessee just completed a series with Mississippi State in Starkville and split the doubleheader. UT defeated MSU 2-0 in game one but fell 1-8 in game two. Game three was cancelled due to inclement weather.
