COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis senior Tamara Sutton, playing in her fourth and final Southern Intercollegiate, won draw championships in singles and doubles action Sunday to highlight final round action of the annual event held on the USC campus.

Sutton, a Miami, Fla., native, downed teammate Jodi Kenoyer 6-4, 6-3 Sunday afternoon in the A-2 draw championship match Later in the afternoon, Sutton teamed with Jennifer Radman to win the doubles B draw championship with a hard-fought 9-7 win over Furman’s Kovarik/Bentley.

In other singles action, freshman Audrey George lost her B-2 championship match, falling to Clemson’s Ansa Dolinska 6-2, 6-2. Senior Lynn-Yin Tan won her consolation match in the A-1 draw, beating Wofford’s Wendy Rohr 6-3, 6-4.

The Gamecocks did most of their damage on the doubles scene over the weekend. USC’s Kenoyer and Tan teamed to easily beat Clemson’s Lacelarie/Savitskaya 8-2 in the A draw championship match. Over the course of the weekend, Carolina doubles teams were an impressive 9-2.

Catherine Brown and Audrey George dropped the C draw championship match 9-7 to Armstrong Atlantic’s Aguilar/Puch duo.

The Gamecocks conclude fall tournament action next weekend as they travel to Stone Mountain, Ga., for the 2001 SEC Coaches’ Tournament.
