KNOXVILLE, TN- The South Carolina volleyball team was defeated by the Tennessee Volunteers today in Knoxville, ending Carolina’s four match winning streak. Game scores were 25-30, 24-30 and 30-18. The 17th ranked Gamecocks are now10-2 overall and 4-2 in SEC play.

Nadia Sefferovich led the team in kills for the second straight match, recording 13 knockdowns. The opening game featured the Vols taking an early lead, which got as high as 21-14 before Carolina cut the lead to 25-22, but that was as close as they would get before losing 30-25. Nadia Sefferovich and Sam Alban led Carolina with five kills each. Carolina hit .200 as a team in game one.

Game two started out much like the first, with Tennessee jumping out to an early lead after the Gamecocks had their only lead of the match to that point at 1-0. The Vols then took over the game offensively from that point on, winning 30-24.

The third game was similar to the first two. Tennessee jumped out to an early lead and Carolina could not quite catch up as the Vols won 30-18.

The Gamecocks are back in action Wednesday night when they travel to Clemson for the annual matchup with the Tigers. Match time is at 7:00 p.m.
