Fayetteville, Ark – In the first day of competition at the Tyson Invitational, South Carolina picked up new NCAA provisional marks with the two teams combining to put 13 athletes in tomorrow’s finals. The women are ranked No. 1 while the men sit at No. 14.

Mamee Groves threw a personal best 62′ 1 1/4 to finish as the runner-up in the women’s 20lb. weight. The toss is an NCAA provisional mark.

Antoinette Wilks and Tacita Bass went 2-3 in the long jump with both picking up NCAA provisional marks. Wilks flew 20′ 8 1/2 while Bass hit 20 1/4.

Lisa Barber was second in the 400m at 54.21.

The men advanced three in the 60m and one in the 60m hurdles to the finals tomorrow. The women advanced the following to the finals from today’s prelims: two in the 60m, three in the 200m and four in the 60m hurdles.
