Nashville, TN –
The South Carolina Men’s Tennis team lost a close match to Vanderbilt on Sunday afternoon in Nashville, TN. The match was the final one of the regular season. The Gamecocks won three matches in singles at one, two and six. Seth Rose had little trouble disposing of Bobby Reynolds at number two singles, 6-4, 6-4. While both Guillaume Legat amd Rodrigo Pacheco took their matches to three sets each. The 17th-ranked Legat finished off an incredible regular season with a win over 80th-ranked Eddie Coates, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. He will go into next weekend’s Southeastern Conference tournament with only one loss in dual conference matches for the season. Pacheco came back from losing the first set to Brad Hambrick to win it in three, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. Earlier in the match, South Carolina had lost the doubles point by only the slightest of margins. The number two doubles team of Legat and Marcus Westman lost 9-7 to Vanderbilt’s Hambrick and Chad Harris, while Gamecocks Carl Wermee and Nasir Sherazi lost to Smith and Dailey in a tie-breaker 9-8(4). The Gamecocks will travel to Lexington, Ky. later in the week for the Southeastern Conference tournament.
