Gamecocks Tamara Sutton and Jodi Kenoyer were eliminated after the second round of action at the 2001 Omni Hotels Southeast Regional Championships Saturday evening.

Kenoyer fell to Wake Forest’s Katie Martzolf in three sets. Kenoyer won the first set 7-6, but dropped the next two sets, 6-0 and 6-2. Kenoyer, who falls to 6-2 on the seson, had advanced to the second round after defeating Appalachian State’s Tammy Beaulieu Friday morning. Martzolf was a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 upset winner over the tournament’s top seed, Duke’s Amanda Johnson.

Playing in the later match, Sutton lost the battle against No. 7 seed, Kate Pinchbeck, in two sets (6-2, 6-3). Sutton domintated NC State’s Jackie Leskovar in the first round of action Friday afternoon to advance to the second round. Like teammate Kenoyer, Sutton’s current record stands at 6-2.

The South Carolina Gamecocks returns to action Nov. 2-4 when they host the Southern Intercollegiate Championships.
