AUSTIN, Texas –
The South Carolina women’s swimming and diving team placed 35th at this year’s NCAA Championships held in Austin, Texas. Sophomore Holly Hodges and freshmen Allison Brennan and Tracey Richardson competed for USC in diving, with sophomore Anna Nyiry and freshman Heather Skaggs swimming for the Gamecocks.

“This was a good experience for the girls who competed this weekend,” said USC head swimming coach Don Gibb. “Next year we look to come back with more people and have our girls who competed this year be our leaders and compete well.”
Hodges, who took second at the SEC Championships on the three-meter board, finished ninth on the one-meter board with a score of 276.70. Brennan placed 19th with 247.45 points, with Richardson placing 28th with 230.70.

All three also competed on the three-meter board, with Hodges placing 19th.

Swimming for USC, sophomore Anna Nyiry finished 18th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.05. Nyiry also placed 28th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.73.

Competing in her first NCAA Championships, freshman Heather Skaggs competed in the 50, 100 and 200 free. Skaggs best finish came in the 50 free, placing 40th with a time of 23.29.
