Columbia, S.C. – With a score of 304, the Unviersity of South Carolina women’s cross country team finished 10th at the Furman Invitational this afternoon. BYU led the competitive 28-team field with 25 points, followed by University of Guelph (94) and Virginia (117).

Once again freshman Jenny Lake led the Gamecocks in the 6,000 meter run. Lake finished 26th, posting a time of 23:35. Senior Rachel Smith crossed the finish line in 45th place, with a time of 23:57.

Criston Dailey was the third Gamecock to finish in the top 100. Dailey’s time of 24:29 earned her a 64th place finish.

Closing out the South Carolina top 5 was Kinsey Eschenburg (82) and Nikki Campell (87).

BYU’s Nan Evans and Jill Rencher finished one-two, on way to earning the Cougars’ team title.

USC will have two weeks off before competing in the SEC Championships, hosted by Auburn University, on Monday, Oct. 29.
