Columbia, S.C. – After one round of action at the 2002 Southeastern Conference Championships, the University of South Carolina stands in 10th place with a score of 302. Florida fired a four-over-par 284 under windy conditions at the Sea Island Golf Club Seaside Course to lead the 12-team field. Auburn is in second, followed by Arkansas.

Freshman Martin Rominger is tied for 12th with a two-over-par 72. Estill, S.C. native Nash Elliot and sophomore Brent Delahoussaye shot 76 and are tied for 34th. Alex Hamilton fired 78 to place 46th while Johan Kok stands in 52 with a first-round score of 80.

Florida Gator Camilo Villegas blasted a two-under-par 68 and is the individual leader. Battling for second place is Camilo Benedetti (UF), Beau Galyean (Ark) and Jay Mundy (Aub).

The second round of the 2002 SEC Championship in St. Simmons, Ga. begins on Saturday, April 20 at 8:00 a.m.
