Starkville, MS – South Carolina senior Tactia Bass, in first place after
the first day of the heptathlon at the SEC Outdoor Championships, leads
a trio of Gamecocks in the top five of the event. The SEC Outdoor TRACK
AND FIELD Championship runs through Sunday.

Bass heads into the final day with 3298 points. Teammates Antoinette
Wilks and Chalsea Hammmond are in third and fifth place, respectively.

“Tactia is still doing well in spite of a down event. But that’s what
the heptathlon is all about,” said USC multi-event coach Delethea
Quarles. “Antoinette is having a solid day. But, I am proud today of
the effort that Chalsea Hammond made. As a freshman she is only four
points out of fourth place and she had a first day PR.”
