Baton Rouge, La. – The South Carolina Women’s Track and Field Team has just done what no other Gamecock team has done, in any sport. They’ve completed the ultimate. They won the national championship. Going into the final event, the 4x400m relay, the Gamecocks had to score five points to win. They pulled out the clincher, and in great fashion. The combined quartet of Tiffany Ross, Tacita Bass, Lashinda Demus, and Demetria Washington set a collegiate record in the relay with a time of 2:26.46 to win the relay and the national championship.

This is the first national championship any Gamecock team in any sport has won.
