COLUMBIA, SC – Coming off USC’s third straight championship in the NCAA Regionals, USC first baseman Yaron Peters earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week Honors from Collegiate Baseball.
In four games this weekend, Peters hit six home runs with eight RBI and was named MVP of the Columbia Regional. Peters batted 10-for-16 at the plate, with 28 total bases and a slugging percentage of 1.750. Peters knocked five home runs off North Carolina pitching in three games, including two home runs in USC’s 3-1 victory over North Carolina to clinch the regional championship. Peters drove in all three runs in the Gamecock victory.
Peters is batting .392 on the year with 27 home runs and 89 RBI. The 27 home runs and 89 RBI are both single-season records at South Carolina. Peters current slugging percentage is .800.
