Catch up with senior Berna Dwyer, a middle blocker for the Carolina volleyball team.

uscsports.com: What are you doing with your time off this summer?

BD: I don’t really have time off this summer. I have been working at Kelly’s Deli for my practicum and I have been going to summer school. The one week I do have off, I will be going home to see my parents and flying to San Diego California to see my sisters.

uscsports.com: Have you been active in any community service projects? If so, what have you been doing?

BD: I wish I have, but my schedule has been to busy with work and school.

uscsports.com: What do you think is the best thing that you get out of doing community service projects?

BD: Helping people.

uscsports.com: Why did you choose to come to South Carolina?

BD: The people were great and knowing Crystal Moore and Coach Trina Smith really helped influence me.

uscsports.com: What is the biggest difference between Arizona and South Carolina?

BD: The weather, the people, and the food. Basically everything.

uscsports.com: Making the transition from high school to college and moving across the country, what was the biggest adjustment you had to make? Was the transition hard?

BD: The biggest transition was being so far away from my family. For the first time, I was by myself. The transition was pretty hard because I did get homesick, but after a while, you get so busy you don’t have time to be homesick.

uscsports.com: What are you plans after college?

BD: Right now I don’t have anything specific planned right now, I am trying to keep my options open.

uscsports.com: What would be your dream job?

BD: No job!

uscsports.com: You are one of six seniors on this year’s volleyball team. What are your expectations for such an experienced group?

BD: My expectations are the same as they’ve always been: winning!

uscsports.com: What advice would you give to a future collegiate volleyball player?

BD: Stay in shape.

uscsports.com: What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

BD: I see myself being very successful at my career and traveling the world.

uscsports.com: What is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?

BD: ALL OF THEM!!!!!

uscsports.com: What was your favorite TV show when you were little?

BD: The Cosby Show

uscsports.com: What is your favorite dish/food to cook?

BD: Filet Mignon

uscsports.com: What is your motto?

BD: Rise and shine, I’m burning daylight.

BD: A 1976 Green Ford Pickup Truck

BD: The new Star Wars
