South Carolina’s Megan Hosp was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 7, 2002. The senior setter helped lead the Gamecocks (5-1) to a 3-0 record this past weekend in the Carolina Classic Volleyball Tournament. In the tournament, Carolina beat Creighton 3-0, Arizona State 3-1, and upset 13th-ranked Pacific 3-0.

In the match against Creighton, Hosp tied a single-match school record with eight service aces. Hosp’s play was pivitol in the Carolina victory over Pacific, and was named tournament MVP.

Hosp, a Pasadena native, recorded 118 assists for the tournament. This moves her into third place on South Carolina’s all-time career assist list.

For the week, Hosp had a 0.90 kill-per-game average, a .348 hitting percentage, 11.8 assists-per-game average, and 2.30 blocks-per-game average. She had ten aces total for the week.
