LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The 17th-ranked South Carolina women’s golf team is in 17th place after the two rounds of the NCAA Fall Preview at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course. The Lady Gamecocks fired a team score of 318 Monday for a two day total of 630. The prestigious tournament is being played at the site of the 2003 NCAA Championships and is featuring most of the teams who played in last year’s NCAA Championships.
Two All-American and defending SEC champion Kristy McPherson leads the Lady Gamecocks after firing her second-straight three-over-par 75 Monday. McPherson is tied for 19th place with six other players at six-over par for the tournament. McPherson’s two day total score is 150.
Junior Adrienne Gautreaux is tied for 50th place after shooting a 10-over par 82 Monday, giving her a two-day total of 156. The remaining scores for the Lady Gamecocks were junior Marci Robinson (82, 161, T71st), freshman Erica Battle (79, 166, T83rd), and sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu (96, 180, 89th)
Oklahoma State fired a team score of 306 Monday for a two-day total of 594 and has a one stroke lead over Vanderbilt (305, 595). Arizona State (298) and Duke (300) are tied for third place with a two day total of 597. Texas rounds out the top five firing a 305 on Monday for a two-day score of 598.
Celeste Troche of Auburn leads the individual field firing an even-par 72 on Monday for a two-day total of 142. Sarah Jacobs of Vanderbilt is in second place with a 143 after her round of 73 on Monday. Miriam Kraschinski of Arizona and Janice Olivencia of Texas are tied for third place with a two-day total of 145. Allison Hanna of Ohio State and Karin Sjodin of Oklahoma State are tied for fifth place with a 146.
The final round will be Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
