LAFAYETTE Ind. – The 17th ranked South Carolina women’s golf team finished in 15th place at the NCAA Fall Preview at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course. The Lady Gamecocks shot a 300 on Tuesday, their lowest round of the tournament as a team, and finished with a total score of 930. The prestigious tournament was played at the site of the 2003 NCAA Championships, and featured most of the teams who played in the 2002 NCAA Championships.

Defending SEC champion and All-American Kristy McPherson fired an even-par 72 Tuesday to finish in a tie for 10th place. McPherson finished with a total score of 222, eight-over par for the tournament.

All the Lady Gamecocks fired rounds in the 70’s on Tuesday. Junior Adrienne Gautreaux shot a 78 Tuesday for a total score of 234 and finished in a tie for 50th place, while junior Marci Robinson shot a 77 to finish with a 238 and in a tie for 66th place. Freshman Erica Battle finished her first collegiate tournament by firing a 76 for a total score of 242 and in a tie for 75th place. Sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu fired a 75 for a total score of 252 and in a tie for 87th place.

Arizona recorded a 292 Tuesday to win the tournament with a total score of 889. Oklahoma State finished in second place; three shots back after firing a 298. Vanderbilt finished in third place with a 901 followed by Duke who shot a 902. Auburn rounded out the top five with a total score of 904.

Miriam Kraschinski of Arizona fired her second straight 70 to win the tournament with a total score of 215. Katherine Hull of Pepperdine and Sarah Jacobs of Vanderbilt finished in a tie for second place with a score of 219. Lisa Meldrum of Oklahoma finished in fourth place with a 220, while five players finished tied for fifth place.
