Sept. 20, 2002

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two members of the University of South Carolina women’s tennis team have been invited to compete in the 2002 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Los Angeles, California.

Senior Kathy Boyanovich earned a spot in the qualifying draw for singles. Boyanovich ranked 63rd in the preseason poll and was 17-7 overall a year ago. She finished the season ranked 95th. Boyanovich was also selected for the qualifying draw in double matches. Boyanovich teamed last season with Jennifer Radman. The duo posted a 21-11 record overall. Boyanovich’s teammate in this year’s tournament will be fellow senior Jodi Kenoyer.

Kenoyer teamed with Lynn-Yin Tan last year and went 27-8. Kenoyer led the team with a 28-9 overall record in double matches.

The selection criteria for the All-American Tournament in the qualifying draw are based on the top single and double players in the region as determined by the ITA Regional Committee. The at-large representation is based on preseason Omni Hotels national rankings and ITA National Tournament Committee recommendations. To advance to the main draw in both singles and doubles, players must win at least two matches.

The 2002 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships runs from Oct.14-19.
