Chapel Hill, North Carolina – The South Carolina women’s golf team is in a tie for eighth place after the second round of the Franklin Street Trust Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Lady Gamecocks fired a team score of 299 for a two-day total of 599, six strokes back of the top five.
All-American Kristy McPherson is now in third place after firing an even-par 72 on Saturday. McPherson has a total score of one-under par 143. Junior Kory Thompson fired a two-over par 74 for a total score of 150 and is a tie for 28th place.
Senior Kacy Thompson shot a four-over par 76 on Saturday for a total score of 151 and is in a tie for 33rd place. Sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu (playing as an individual only) also fired a four-over par 76 for a total score of 154 and is in a tie for 45th place. The remaining scores for the Lady Gamecocks were junior Adrienne Gautreaux with a 79 (157, T57th place) and Junior Marci Robinson with a 77 (162, 74th place).
Duke is in first place for the second straight day after firing a team score of 287 for a total score of one-over par 577. Oklahoma State is in second place, firing a 283 for a total score of 582, and tournament host North Carolina is in third place with a total score of 592. Florida State and Ohio State are tied for fourth place with a team score of 593.
Duke has two players in the top five of the individual field with Liz Janangelo in first place, after firing a four-under par 68 for a two-day total of 135, nine-under par. Kristen White of Ohio State is in second place after firing her second straight 71 for a two-day total of 142. McPherson is in third place with a 143, followed by a three-way tie for fourth place including Liliana Alvarez of Tulane, Kristin Tamulis of Florida State, and Leigh Anne Hardin of Duke.
