COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Gamecocks finished fourth in the Clemson Invitational today after posting 95 points. Southeastern Conference foe Alabama won the event with a score of 48. Charlotte tallied 56 points, followed by Western Carolina with 59.

The 6,000-meter race was also scored as a state meet with South Carolina coming out on top with 34 points. Clemson finished second followed by South Carolina State.

“Jenny and Kinsey ran very well today,” commented cross country coach Stan Rosenthal. “It is always nice to beat our friends up the road from us.”

Jenny Lake led the Gamecocks with another stellar performance on her way to her third-straight victory. Lake recorded a time of 22:42, to set the course record. Kinsey Eschenburg crossed the finish line at 24:24 to finish 12th. Mary Claire Utsey placed 26th, while Lauren Paige finished 31st. Rounding out the five-man squad was Mary Wright, who registered a time of 26:04.

South Carolina will have next weekend off before they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the Eagle Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19.
