Columbia, S.C. – The ninth-ranked South Carolina men’s soccer team hosts No. 14 Furman on Sunday, Oct. 27 at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium in Columbia, S.C. Kickoff of the Palmetto State matchup is slated for 2:00 p.m. The 26th meeting between the Gamecocks and Paladins will be broadcasted live on the internet at www.uscsports.com.

South Carolina leads the series 17-5-3. Last year’s physical battle was a nail-biter finish all the way down to the 118th minute. South Carolina won, 3-2, and handed Furman its first loss of the 2001 season.

The Gamecocks enter this match with the seventh best defense in the country. Goalkeeper Michael Bachmeyer is ranked eighth in the country with a goals against average of 0.69. On the offensive side of the ball senior forward Jordan Quinn currently leads the team with six goals and one assist for a total of 13 points. While Quinn has tallied the most goals for the Gamecocks, junior Robert Rosenberg and sophomore JC Desriac leads the team in assists, with four.

So far this season 13 different Gamecocks have contributed to the success of South Carolina. Eight players have posted goals while 10 individuals, including five of the goal scorers, have contributed with an assist.

The afternoon showdown is camper day. Any youth wearing a soccer camp T-shirt will receive free admission. Gamecock adidas scarfs will also be given away to the first 300 fans.
