Autaguaville, Alabama – The Equestrian team traveled to Marion, Alabama this past weekend for two western competitions at Judson College. The team finished fourth on Saturday behind Auburn, Georgia and Berry College and third on Sunday behind Auburn and Georgia. Junior Kyra Hufford led the team with wins both days in Intermediate Horsemanship. “The weekend was challenging for all of us,” said Hufford. “I could not have done well without the support of my teammates.”

On Sunday, the team won an impressive five classes. Sophomore Kerrie Reeves and freshman Courtney Borton both won their sections of Open Horsemanship. Along with Hufford in Intermediate, freshman Ashleigh Collins won her section as well. Senior Margy Myers won Beginner Horsemanship on Sunday also.

“Our young team really closed the gap on Sunday with a very close third place finish,” Coach Duncan said. “There was a lot of improvement over the weekend and everyone made the effort and commitment to improve. The experience this weekend should help us improve even more for the next competition.”

The Lady Gamecocks travel next to the University of Georgia who is hosting both a western and hunt seat competition on November 23.
