The South Carolina women’s tennis team dropped two spots in the new Omni Hotels’ Collegiate Tennis Rankings released Wednesday morning by the ITA. The Gamecocks, 2-0, were ranked 16th in last weeks poll but fell two spots after defeating No. 62 Furman, 4-3.
The Gamecocks gear up for rivalry weekend as they travel to face the Tigers on Saturday. South Carolina is 15-8 all-time against the Tigers and have won eight of their last nine matches against the Tigers. Clemson comes into the match 2-1 on the season and ranked 27th in the country. The Tigers defeated College of Charleston 6-1, and Charlotte 7-0. The Tigers only loss of the season was to No. 19 South Alabama 4-3.
After USC travels to Clemson, the Gamecocks will start a four match home stand starting on February 22 against North Carolina State.
