The South Carolina baseball team heads to Knoxville, Tenn. this weekend for the Gamecocks’ first Southeastern Conference road contest of the year, a three-game series vs. Tennessee. The Gamecocks own a 16-5 record on the year after Wednesday evening’s 29-4 win vs. Wofford and are 1-2 in SEC play. Tennessee is 11-8 entering this weekend and also owns a 1-2 record in the SEC.

First pitch for Friday night is set for 7 p.m. with senior LHP Steven Bondurant (2-0, 5.01 ERA) getting the start for the Gamecocks. Tennessee will counter with junior LHP Ben Riley (1-2, 3.53 ERA). Bondurant enters this weekend with a 1-0 record and a 6.33 ERA. Bondurant earned his second consecutive victory of the season last Friday night in Carolina’s 7-2 win vs. Arkansas.

Saturday’s game is also set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast by CSS. Sunday’s game will start at 2 p.m. South Carolina leads the series with the Volunteers 28-21, including winning last year’s series (two of three games). Tennessee won two of three games in 2001, the last time both teams played in Knoxville.

The weekend’s pitching rotation is as follows:

Friday: South Carolina: Sr. LHP Steven Bondurant (2-0, 5.01 ERA)
Tennessee: Jr. LHP Ben Riley (1-2, 3.53 ERA)

Saturday: South Carolina: Jr. LHP David Marchbanks (4-1, 2.06 ERA)
Tennessee: Jr. LHP Derek Tharpe (2-1, 3.69 ERA)

Sunday: South Carolina: So. LHP Matt Campbell (1-1, 4.00 ERA)
Tennessee: TBA
