Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina won a total of 26 events during the two days of competition at the Weems Baskin Relays in Columbia.

Tiffany Ross won the women’s 100 and 400 meter hurdles. The sophomore ran a time of 13.52 in the 100 hurdles and a 58.30 in 400 hurdles.

USC’s relay teams swept the 4×100, the 4×200, the 4×300 and the 4×400 races on the women’s side and the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×300 on the men’s side. The women set a new Weems Baskin Relays record in the 4×300 with a time of 2:32.29.

Carolina’s women were successful in the field events as Antoinette Wilks captured the long jump title with a mark of 6.52m and India Odum won the shot put with a mark of 14.20m. In running events, Aleen Bailey won the 100m dash with a time of 11.99 and Lauren Paige won the 5000m run in a time of 20:09.34.

The Gamecocks finished 1-2-3 in the men’s 100m hurdles as Corey Taylor won the race with a time of 13.84, Kenneth Ferguson placed second at 13.99 and Fred Townsend finished third at 14.31. Ferguson went on to win the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.30

William Emase won the men’s 800m race with a time of 1:52.93 and the 1500m run with a time of 3:57.41.

Chris Steddum and Jared Farabee claimed the top two positions in the men’s pole vault. Steddum cleared 5.20m and Farabee 4.75m in the event.

In the men’s discus, USC’s Adam Bishop took the top spot with a throw of 47.96m.

The Gamecocks return to action next weekend at the Florida Relays in Gainesville. Competition begins Friday, March 28 and continues through Sunday, March 30.
