Austin, Texas – Sophomore diver Andy Bradley opened up competition for the South Carolina men’s swimming and diving team with a third place finish on the one-meter board in the preliminary competition at the NCAA Championships. Bradley has earned All-American honors and will compete tonight in the finals of the one-meter board. Bradley finished with a score of 325.00 in the preliminaries.

“Andy did a good job this afternoon and came back with two phenomonal dives to move him from 10th to third,” said head diving coach Todd Sherritt. “The competition is anyone’s to win and I know Andy is good enough to win it tonight.”

Bradley is one of six divers competing in the finals tonight from the SEC. Kentucky senior diver Clayton Moss placed first in the prelims with a score of 363.85. Also among the top eight from the SEC were Florida’s Zach Wilcox, Tennessee’s Phil Jones, and Georgia’s Todd Avery and Kristopher Daugherty.

Bradley is the third USC diver to earn All-American honors this year. Last weekend, sophomore women’s divers Lauren King and Tracey Richardson earned All-American status with their performances at the NCAA Women’s Swimming Championships. Junior swimmer Jennifer VanAseen was also an All-American for USC in the 100 and 200 freestyle.

Junior swimmer Tamas Szucs also competed for Carolina and placed 34th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:24.57. Georgia junior Robert Margalis, brother of South Carolina women’s swimmer Stephanie Margalis, placed first in the prelims with a time of 4:15.73.
