University of South Carolina senior Tim Glowienka has signed a contract with the NY/NJ Metrostars of Major League Soccer. Glowienka joins former Gamecock Clint Mathis on the Metrostars roster. Other Carolina players in the MLS are Henry Ring with the Chicago Fire and Josh Wolff with the Kansas City Wizards.

“We are all very pleased and proud for Tim,” stated South Carolina Head Coach Mark Berson. “He has worked extremely hard from day one in his career with the objective of taking his game to the next level and becoming a professsional. He is coming under the guidance of a tremendous coach in Bob Bradley. We wish him the best of luck.”

Glowienka, a four year letterwinner, played in all but two matches during his collegiate career. One of three captains during the 2002 season, Glowienka was the leader of the defense that held their opponents to a one goal per match average. Glowienka, a member of the 2002 Third Team All-South, closed-out his collegiate career with his third consecutive NCAA berth.
