Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina baseball team travels to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend for a three-game series with Florida beginning on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. South Carolina is 20-13 on the year and 5-7 in the SEC, just one-half game behind the Gators for first place in the SEC Eastern Division. Florida is 24-9-1 on the year and 5-6-1 in the SEC. The Gamecocks have won the previous three series the teams have played in, including two of three games in the 2001 series, the last time the two teams met in Gainesville.

Senior LHP Steven Bondurant is scheduled to start for Carolina on Friday evening. Bondurant comes into Friday’s contest with a 3-2 record and a 3.78 ERA on the year. Bondurant has 50 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched this year. Florida will start sophomore LHP Adam Sanabria (0-1, 5.70 ERA). Junior LHP David Marchbanks (6-2, 2.20 ERA) will start Saturday’s contest for Carolina with sophomore RHP Justin Hoyman (5-2, 2.51 ERA) getting the ball for the Gators Carolina’s starter for Sunday afternoon’s game is to be determined while the Gators will use freshman RHP Christian Madson (2-1, 4.80 ERA).

Senior infielder Justin Harris has been hot at the plate lately for Carolina and owns an 11-game hitting streak heading into the weekend. Harris is batting .323 with 42 hits and 16 RBI. Harris has started and played in 32 of 33 games for USC this year. Senior third baseman Brian Buscher leads the team and is among leaders in the SEC at the plate with a .385 batting average in addition to six HR and 30 RBI. Buscher has started all 33 games this year and has hit safely in 30 of the 33 games.
