South Carolina All-American Kristy McPherson fired a two-under-par 70 Sunday to capture the Lady Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Indiana. Playing at the site of the upcoming NCAA Championships, McPherson led the Invitational from start to finish and earned her first title of the season. Earlier in March, the two-time SEC champion finished in a tie for first place at the Bryan National Collegiate but lost the title in a playoff.

Junior Adrienne Gautreaux finished in a tie for 14th after shooting an 80 on Sunday’s final day of competition.Gautreaux had jumped up to third place after Saturday’s 36 holes of golf as the Texas native shot a 76 and 73 on Saturday.

McPherson led the field by two strokes after firing a two-day score of 218 (three-over-par) while Gautreaux finished 11 strokes back at 229.

Both Gamecocks participated in the Lady Boilermaker Invitational as individuals to prepare for next weekend’s SEC Championship in Lexington, Kentucky.

Senior Kristy McPherson will enter next week’s SEC Championship as the two-time title holder and look for the rare three-peat. Last year, McPherson captured her second consecutive SEC championship and led the Gamecocks to the SEC title.
