Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina LHP David Marchbanks earned SEC Pitcher of the Week honors following his four-hit complete game in Saturday’s 10-2 win at Florida. The junior from Simpsonville, S.C. allowed just four hits and two runs vs. the Gators while striking out six batters and walking two. Marchbanks allowed just one hit in his final seven innings of work on Saturday.

The win improved Marchbanks’ record to 7-2 on the year with a 2.05 ERA in 70 1/3 innings pitched. Marchbanks leads the SEC in innings pitched and is tied for wins by a pitcher with Levale Speigner of Auburn. Marchbanks is also fourth in the SEC in earned run average. Marchbanks has struck out 53 batters on the year while yielding just eight walks.

This marks the second time that Marchbanks has earned SEC Pitcher of the Week. Marchbanks also earned the honor after the first weekend of the 2002 season in which he allowed just one hit in six innings of work while striking out 11 batters in a 11-3 USC win vs. Charleston Southern.

The Gamecocks are back in action on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. hosting the Wofford Terriers. This weekend Carolina returns to SEC play with a three-game series vs. Mississippi State at Sarge Frye Field. First pitch on Friday is set for 7 p.m. South Carolina is 22-14 on the year with a 7-8 conference record, tied for first with Tennessee in the SEC Eastern Division.
