Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina baseball team will be back in action at Sarge Frye Field this Wednesday night with a non-conference home game vs. Wofford. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. and Wednesday night will mark the first home game for Carolina in two weeks. The Gamecocks are 22-14 on the year with a 7-8 conference record, tied for first in the SEC Eastern Division. Wofford comes into Wednesday’s game with a 6-25 overall record.
Carolina will start freshman RHP Conor Lalor. Lalor owns a 4-0 record with a 3.09 ERA. Wednesday will be Lalor’s first action since a relief appearance on April 2 vs. Clemson. Lalor has 14 strikeouts and five walks in 23 1/3 innings pitched. The Terriers will go with senior LHP Culley Kline. Kline enters with a 0-6 record and a 12.33 ERA.
Lalor and Kline each were the starting pitchers in the last regular season contest between Carolina and Wofford. South Carolina defeated Wofford 29-4 in a seven-inning game on March 19. Carolina set a season-high for runs scored and hits in the win. The Gamecocks lead the series vs. the Terriers 54-21-1.
This weekend Carolina returns to SEC play with a three-game series vs. Mississippi State at Sarge Frye Field. First pitch on Friday is set for 7 p.m.
