The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team travel to Knoxville, TN for the 2003 SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament. The Gamecocks will play the 10th seeded Auburn Tigers on Thursday at 11am. The Gamecocks enter the tournament as the 7th overall seed in the SEC. The Gamecocks finished the regular season with a 12-9 record overall and a 5-6 mark in the SEC.

The Gamecocks defeated the Tigers earlier this season 5-2 at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Facility in Columbia. The Gamecocks won the doubles point with wins at number one and two. In singles, the Gamecocks took number one, two, five and six but dropped the matches at three and four.

USC is 16-1 all time against Auburn, including 12 in a row. The Gamecocks have won their last six opening round matches at the SEC Tournament. With a win against Auburn on Thursday, USC will face the number two seeded Georgia Bulldogs on Friday at 11am. Georgia won the meeting between the two schools on April 4 in Athens, 7-0.
