Knoxville, Tenn. – Second-seeded Georgia defeated seventh-seeded South Carolina 4-0 in the second round of the SEC Women’s Tennis Championships in Knoxville. USC falls to 13-10 on the season and is eliminated from the tournament.

Georgia won the doubles point and went on to the consecutive singles victories, capped by Alexandra Smith’s clinching win at No. 5 over USC’s Catherine Brown.

Carolina’s Danielle Wiggins was leading her No. 3 singles match over 60th-ranked Tina Hojnik, 6-2, 2-0 when play was suspended.

USC will return to action during the weekend of May 9-11 with an NCAA Regional match. Site and opponent are to be determined.
