Columbia, S.C. –
The 18th-ranked South Carolina softball team will close out SEC play on the road as they travel to Oxford, Miss. to take on the Ole Miss Rebels this weekend. The three-game series is scheduled for a 1 p.m. (CT) doubleheader on Saturday and a final game at 1 p.m. (CT) on Sunday. The Gamecocks are 34-14, 16-9 in the SEC while Ole Miss is 17-30, 6-18 in the SEC.

The Rebels are currently ranked sixth in the SEC West and have a three-game losing streak. Ole Miss was swept by LSU last weekend but took a game against SEC East leader Georgia the week before. The Rebels have won two conference series this season as they went 2-1 against Kentucky and Mississippi State.

Carolina is coming off of a doubleheader sweep over non-conference opponent Furman and a 1-2 series against SEC leader Alabama last weekend. The Gamecocks hope to get back on the winning track in the SEC. Depending on certain outcomes still yet to be played in conference play, the Gamecocks could still move up in SEC standings for a better seed at the SEC Tournament May 8-11. USC is currently just a half game back of Florida for second place in the eastern division.

Carolina leads the series against the Rebels 11-1. The lone win by Ole Miss came back in 2000 when the Rebels beat USC 1-0 in Columbia. In Oxford, USC leads the series 4-0.
