South Carolina senior golfer Kristy McPherson was named as the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame 2003 Female Co-Amateur Athletes of the Year, along with Clemson basketball player Chrissy Floyd. A native of Conway, SC, McPherson will be saluted in the Thursday, May 29th banquet, along with other South Carolina amateur and professional honorees.

The three-time All-American is a native of Conway, South Carolina, and was named as the 2003 SEC Golfer of the Year. McPherson led the USC women’s golf team to an SEC Championship in 2002 while herself capturing two individual medalist honors during her sophomore and junior years (2001 and 2002). She was named to the All-SEC First Team in her last three years after earning a Second-Team nod as a freshman.

McPherson was named as the SEC Golfer of the Year and led the SEC in stroke average during her senior year. After leading Gamecocks to its third consecutive NCAA postseason event, the two-time SEC champion finished 39th in the nation last week in the 2003 NCAA Championships.

She placed third in the SEC Championships this year after claiming back-to- back league titles in 2001 and 2002.
