Columbia, S.C. – The seventh-ranked University of South Carolina men’s soccer team will host the Appalachian State Mountaineers as the second half of a double header with women’s soccer on Sunday, Sept. 21. Kickoff for the men’s match is slated for 4:00 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on the internet at www.uscsports.com.
Sunday’s matchup marks the 16th meeting between the Gamecocks and Mountaineers with South Carolina coming out on top 12-2. This series dates back to USC’s first season (1978), with their last meeting taking place in 1994. The Gamecocks were victorious back in ’94 with an 8-0 shutout over Appalachian State.
Posting the third best start in school history, South Carolina (6-0-0) enters Sunday’s match riding a six-game win streak, while Appalachian State is 2-3-1. James Madison and UNC Asheville both fell victim to the Mountaineers.
