Sept. 29, 2003

Interviewed by Drew Greiner, USC Sports Information.

What is a like being a student athlete?

It is a honor being a student-athlete. We get many privileges. You get treated a lot better than a normal student.

What is your favorite thing about USC?

The people I have met during my time here. I have had a lot of fun here at USC.

What other sporting events do you like to attend?

I grew up playing soccer. I starting playing at age 4 or 5. Soccer was my main sport. I played Lacrosse as well. I like being able to do a lot of different things.

What place would you most like to visit?

I would like to go back to Nationals (Murphysborough,Tennesee). It was real close to Nashville and I would like to go back there. I am also a big country music fan. It would be a honor to go back to Nationals.

Do you have any individual goals for the year?

Continue to place well. I moved up in my division after going to Nationals. To place consistently in the new division is also a goal

What is your most memorable moment as a rider?

I got most improved my first year here. The whole championship series and going to Nationals. You go to regionals and then zones. It’s the best feeling when they say your name, you smile and the feeling is ridiculous.

What are your plans for after you graduate?

I went to the Career Fair and I just picked up another minor – Business. I already have a minor in Elementary Education with a Spanish Major. Eventually I would like to teach Spanish. I’m not ready to settle down yet and do the family thing for a while. I would like to have a job where I could use my Spanish and travel around Europe.

What is your favorite T.V. show?

Friends. The O.C. is also a good show.

Where do you think you will be in 5 years?

I hope to be helping people somewhere to improve their quality of life. Helping people is a very rewarding feeling.

What part of equestrian are you most looking forward to?

I am looking forward to our first competition (September 27) because I have not tried anything yet in the new format we are going to use. I would like to see how the freshman perform because there are a significant number of them. I have met the freshman but I haven’t seen too many of them ride and am anxious to see how they perform.

Describe Coach Boo Duncan?

Her honesty is the best part. She is very blunt and very honest. She also has know-how and she tells you when you are doing well and when you are not performing up to her standards. She gives you compliments and she doesn’t withhold telling you how it is.
