Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s soccer team returns to the road with a Wednesday night match at Charlotte with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. Carolina enters the match with a 7-5 record while the 49ers are 4-5-2 on the season.

South Carolina leads the all-time series with Charlotte with a 9-3-3 record including last season’s 2-1 win vs. Charlotte in Columbia. Carolina has won four of the last five meetings between the two schools.

Tim Glowienka’s goal in the 74th minute gave the Gamecocks a 2-1 win vs. Charlotte last year. Charlotte jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Tim Flavin and Mira Mupier connected for the 49ers’ lone goal at 8:04. Flavin served the ball to Mupier who slipped it past goalkeeper Michael Bachmeyer. Just four minutes later, the Gamecocks answered Charlotte when Jordan Quinn scored his sixth goal of the season. Quinn blasted the ball to the upper left-hand corner of the net to tie the game at 1-1. At 73:16 Glowienka netted his first goal of the season off a direct kick to score the game-winning goal. The 49ers were unable to capitalize on a few last minute opportunities.
