In cooperation with the USC student body, the Carolina men’s basketball team will host its own MIDNIGHT MADNESS TONIGHT, Friday, October 17 in the USC Practice Facility. Practice is officially slated to begin on Saturday, Oct. 18.

The first 1,000 fans in the door will receive a one-of-a-kind MIDNIGHT MADNESS t-shirt. In addition, there will also be a number of valuable giveaways, including free books for the Spring 2004 semester. Pizza will also be provided by Domino’s Pizza.

IN ADDITION: The student organization with the largest participation will receive an entertainment suite for use of 50 people for the Navy men’s basketball game (Friday, Nov. 21, 2003). Snacks and soft drinks will be provided.

“MIDNIGHT MADNESS is a great opportunity for USC students and Gamecocks fans to celebrate the beginning of basketball season,” said USC Dave Odom. “We are very excited about this year – the team has worked extremely hard in the off-season. Our team is thrilled to begin practice in such an energetic setting like MIDNIGHT MADNESS!”

MIDNIGHT MADNESS, with free admission to everyone, will feature the following schedule on Friday, Oct. 17:

10:30 – Doors Open

10:40 – 3 on 3 Campus Intramural Semi-Finals (Basketball)

11:00 – USC volleyball coach Kim Christopher speaks

11:10 – Celebrity Hot Shot Contest:

Ray Tanner vs. Landon Powell

Jerry Brewer vs. Katie Dreiling

Curtis Frye vs. Lisa Barber

Dave Odom vs. Casey Manning

Stomper vs. Cocky

Student vs. Student FOR FREE BOOKS

11:25 – 3 on 3 Campus Intramural Finals (Basketball)

11:40 – USC women’s basketball coach Susan Walvius speaks

11:45 – CAMPUS SLAM-DUNK FINALS — USC basketball players will judge the finals

Midnight!: Gamecock men’s basketball team introductions!

The men’s team will be introduced by Mike Boynton, a session that will include a question and answer session. Boynton will also introduce the coaches and staff. In addition, Head Coach Dave Odom will speak and the men will hold a 15-minute scrimmage.
