In the midst of three straight days of two-a-days, the Gamecock men’s basketball team practiced twice today, with both practices lasting one and half hours. The first was at 6:30 am and the second was at 4:30 pm.

The team continues to work on offense, with defensive schemes expected to start being introduced at Monday afternoon’s practice. USC will practice from 6 am – 7 am on Monday morning and then from 4:00 – 5:30 pm in the afternoon. They will take Tuesday off.

The team worked on more off-timing this afternoon. They worked on a couple of options off of the break – automatics. They also continued to add different drills for offensive plays.

“With so many young kids, everything we are doing offensively – even for the veteran players – is new,” said USC head coach Dave Odom “They are adapting well and putting forth quite an effort.

“Tarence Kinsey had an excellent day and Mike Boynton continues to play well,” continued Odom. “John Chappell had his best day and Paulius Jonelinuas rebounded well too. We are shooting the ball much better, making shots on a regular basis and that’s impressive.

“I continue to be very pleased with our conditioning,” said Odom. “We have our normal bumps, bruises and strains, but they should be ok tomorrow. Carlos Powell took an elbow in the back this afternoon, but we expect him back tomorrow.”
