The University of South Carolina’s women’s tennis team will host the Southern Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament this weekend starting on Friday, October 31st.

The tournament will have seven flights in singles while there will be seven flights in doubles. There will also be consolation matches so each player will play at least three matches in singles and doubles on the weekend.

This year’s Southern Intercollegiate will field players from 17 different schools: South Carolina, Appalachian State, Armstrong Atlantic State, Charleston Southern, Clayton College, Eastern Tennessee State, Furman, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Presbyterian College, South Carolina State, UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, Western Carolina, and Wofford.

Three different sites will be used for this weekend’s tournament. Sites that will be used will be Maxcy Gregg Tennis Courts on Blossom Street (women’s courts), Sam Daniels Tennis Courts that are next to the baseball stadium (men’s court), and the Columbia Tennis Center which is located on Pickens Street. The tournament will begin at 8am on Friday and conclude with the finals on Sunday. For more information call the University of South Carolina Sports Information office at (803) 777-5204.
