Columbia, S.C. –
The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team conclude their 2004 regular season schedule this week at home against No. 46 Marshall on Wednesday and No. 2 Florida on Sunday with both matches starting at 1pm. The Gamecocks enter the week ranked 36th in the country in the most recent NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Rankings and have a record of 12-7 overall and 5-5 in the SEC.

On Wednesday, Carolina will face Marshall (15-3 OA,5-0 MAC) for the first time in school history but it will not be their first meeting against an opponent from the Mid-American Conference. The Gamecocks won the match 5-1 to improve their record to 3-0 against teams that are currently in the MAC. The two other wins came against Toledo and Miami (Oh.) in 1985.

After the match with Marshall on Wednesday, the Gamecocks will host No. 2 Florida (16-0 OA, 10-0) on Sunday at 1pm. The Gators hold the lead in the all-time series with a 24-2 mark. First serve for both matches are scheduled for 1pm at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Facility.
