Nashville, Tn. – The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team opens up the 2004 SEC Tournament on Thursday at 9:45 against Ole Miss in Nashville, Tn. The Gamecocks enter the match with a 13-8 record overall and a 5-6 mark in conference play while the Rebels are 11-10 overall and 3-8 in the SEC.

The Gamecocks are 12-12 all-time in the SEC Tournament since joining the league in 1992. The meeting with Ole Miss on Thursday will be the first time that the two teams will meet in the tourney. Ole Miss leads the overall series 11-6 but Carolina has won the last four including a 6-1 win this season in Oxford.

“We respect Mississippi’s team because they are a very good team,” said USC Head Coach Arlo Elkins. “We played really well against them earlier this season and we have to play like that again to beat them and get another shot at Florida on Friday.”

The winner of the USC-Mississippi match on Thursday will face the number one seeded Florida Gators on Friday morning at 9:45am.
