South Carolina’s Chelsea Hammond successfully defended her own Penn Relays title in the long jump tonight, hitting the board at a personal best 21 feet even. It is also an NCAA regional qualifier.

“Today was a great day for South Carolina’s women,” said USC Head Coach Curtis Frye. “We are excited to take the track again tomorrow with the men now here as well.”

South Carolina’s women’s 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay qualified for the Championship of America finals in the next couple of days. Both relays qualified third best on the day. The 4x100m relay ran a 44.52 to win its heat with Clemson’s women running second in the same heat a second slower at 45.57. The USC 4x400m relay won its heat at 3:33.45.

Jenny Lake finished 12th in the 5,000m with a time of 17:00.38 – a personal best.

USC’s DMR was fifth with a time of 11:53.43.

India Odum was eighth in the shot put with a mark of 49’9.
