Last Saturday was a big day at Clemson for the Gamecocks. They not only collected 20 NCAA qualifiers for the NCAA Regional meet, but they also pulled down the National Athlete of the Week in Chelsea Hammond.
Add other honors for USC on Wednesday as announced by the SEC office: the SEC Track Athlete of the Week is Lashinda Demus, the SEC Field Athlete of the Week is Chelsea Hammond and on the men’s side, the SEC Field Athlete of the Week is Tony Allmond.
Hammond broke the school record and jump a Demus crushed the competition to win both the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles at Clemson. She is already qualified in both for the NCAA Regionals.

Allmond jumped 26’2 to win the long jump and push his mark to No. 2 nationally. He was just an inch and a 1/2 from his own school record.
USC will travel to Oxford, Mississippi to compete in the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 13-16.
