Coastal Carolina

Coach Gary Gilmore

North Carolina is a great team and you can’t give them opportunities like we did today. The biggest difference today was walks. We gave up six and North Carolina gave up one. We have to wake up tomorrow and come and play. We need to continue to put ourselves in position to win.

(on Hurry)
Jake was erratic but he left us with a lead and we didn’t get the job done. He gave us everything that he had. We don’t have a guy in the bullpen like South Carolina or Birmingham Southern.

You can have an unbelievable team and if the ball bounces away everything you worked for can change.

Pitcher Jake Hurry

It was pretty obvious that I didn’t have my stuff today and as a starting pitcher you never feel like you’ve done enough if you come out early.

Shortstop Brett Grandstrand

(on Robert Woodard)
He threw fastball and change-ups and made us beat him and we didn’t. He got the job done.

North Carolina

Coach Mike Fox

We feel fortunate to win this game, Coastal Carolina is a great team. Robert Woodard was big for us today. He came in and shut them down in the late innings.

(on the comback)
If you lose the first game, it becomes an uphill battle. It was crucial for us to make that comeback.

First Baseman Sammy Hewitt

I wasn’t looking for any particular pitch, I was looking to work a walk, or protect the plate with two strikes.

Designated Hitter Mike Daniel

If I don’t start I try to stay focused and be ready for the position I was put in.
