Coach Ray Tanner
We were very fortunate to win this game. I thought it was key for Matt (Campbell) to get out of those early jams. Matt has pitched in big games for us before, we felt he was our best guy lately.
Matt Campbell, Pitcher
I just wanted to go out there and get ahead. If I get ahead then it forces the hitters to hit my pitch.
Landon Powell, Catcher
It is always tough when games get halted. I think our guys did a good job or staying focused.
Steve Pearce, First Baseman
He threw me a fastball and I just connected.
East Carolina
Coach Randy Mazey
That was a tough day of baseball. If you are a pure baseball fan you probably enjoyed that though. There was good pitching, well played defense, and good hitting. It was two good teams battling it out. I think our guys battled and showed me something at the end of the game there.
(on pitcher Greg Bunn) We thought about running him back out there for a little bit. We sent him down to the bullpen a couple of times during the rain delay hoping the storm would break. Once we went back to the hotel we had no choice other than to go with someone else.
(on runners left on base)
I thought that we had really good at-bats. Our righthanded hitters stood in there really well on his curve. That is probably one of the best curves you will see. They have really good pitching depth and are able to run good pitchers out there even after a rain delay. I like the way that we battled and I feel good about tomorrow.
(0n tomorrow’s starting pitcher)
We have a couple of options. Sasser came in and looked sharp but we will go home and talk about it tonight.
First Baseman Ryan Norwood
South Carolina has a good team. We gained some confidence by getting two runs on the board there at the end of the game. Unfortunately for us it was too little too late.
Centerfielder Ryan Jones
Campbell had really good stuff today. I just couldn’t make good contact on his pitches.
